版画作为一种同当代艺术中其他艺术门类等同的媒介,有其区别于其他门类的独特审美和现实意义。版画的发展完成了独立的学科体系建立,同时也树立了自身的专业界限,一直伴随着复制、印刷、复数、技术的标签,这是版画自身局限的一面,而版画创作所经历的程序,萌发了偶然和其他可能的机遇的暗示,使得版画创作得以呈现多元面貌的可能。我们要创作版画,还是选择版画的方式进行艺术创作?这里,“我”的选择变得尤为重要,本文试图从版画主体的角度,浅谈版画载体和艺术创作的主次关系,为已有的范式提供一种校正与检验的契机,从而为今后的创作提供新的可能。

Among all other contemporary art categories, printmaking shares equal values as a media but stands alone with its own unique aesthetic and functionality. The development of modern printmaking followed its individual system, which restrained certain boundaries between itself and all the other forms. From the past, such system has usually been labelled with terms like “replication”, “duplicate”, “technical”, “process over form” etc. However, in my opinion, the processes of printmaking imply a broad range of possibilities that extends beyond the limit of printmaking. Printmaking should never be considered a tool for artistic creation; it is an innovation itself. In other words, the creators of printmaking have their own choice of be seen as a craftsman or an artist through one’s work. This article will discuss the relationship between form and function, technique and meaning, body and mind in printmaking, to discover future directions outside of a current paradigm.
