- “美术”语词概念和美术体系在词源学意义上来自 18 世纪的西方，由保罗 ·奥斯卡 ·克里斯特勒（PaulOskar Kristeller）在《艺术的近代体系》中提出语词概念和美术体系并成为“正统”。语词概念和艺术的 近代体系的发展在 18世纪法国学者阿比 ·夏尔 · 巴托（Abbé Charles Batteux）的《归结为同一原理的美的艺术》（Les Beaux Arts réduits àunmême Principe）中初现端倪，最终于达朗贝特（D’Alembert）的《序论》（Discourspréliminaire）形成“美的艺术”（Fine Arts,法语 Beaux-Arts ）的美术体系。基于“美术” 语词概念和美术体系“正统”的艺术理论构建，西方艺术史学界对克里斯特勒的“近代的艺术体系”的观念也进行了回应。
