- 19世纪末至20世纪初，晚清社会动荡，国家积弱不振导致百业渐衰。社会上众多有识之士纷纷提出振兴实业、劝兴工商是救贫弱、图富强的有效之路，并提议举办全国性的博览会。为此，以“实业进步、扩张销路、竞争改良”等为宗旨的南洋劝业会于1910年在南京成功举办。作为展会中一个重要组成部分的刺绣品，因其美艳精妙，巧夺天工，受到世人的喜爱。本文重点就劝业会中刺绣展品的艺术特色、绣制技艺、所获褒奖、改良出新和刺绣行业发展等方面进行较为全面的探究。
